ADSL
ADSL stands for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line.
ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is a technology that facilitates fast data transmission at a high bandwidth on existing copper wire telephone lines to homes and businesses. Unlike regular dial-up copper telephone line service, ADSL provides continuously available, always-on broadband connections. ADSL is being phased out throughout the UK accept in the most remote locations.

ADSL comes in two variations. These speeds are the theoretical maximums and not guarnateed on your service.

What equipment do I need
To take advantage of ADSL the end user will need either;
- A ADSL specific router that will connect directly to the premises NTE telephone socket using a DSL splitter.

How long does it take to install a ADSL Connection
The current lead time for an ADSLconnection is 6-10 working days. According to the latest updates from BT Openreach.
What else do I need
You will need a standard POTS analogue telephone line to have your ADSL connection deployed in conjunction with. Installation will require an engineer visit from BT Openreach to put your connection in place. This will require you to be onsite at your business premises to allow access to the engineer. Once this is completed JMV will visit to install your broadband services, routers and any other hardware ordered at the time.
FTTC
FTTC stands for Fibre to the Cabinet.
Fibre to the cabinet is a connectivity technology that is based on a combination of fibre optic cable and copper cable. The fibre optic cable is in place from the local telephone exchange to a distribution point (commonly called a roadside cabinet), hence the name fibre to the cabinet. From this distribution point a standard telephone line based on copper is then used to deliver the broadband connectivity.

What equipment do I need
To take advantage of FTTC the end user will need either;
- An ethernet router that will connect to a BT Openreach fibre router and deliver your connection via PPPoE
- A vDSL specific router that will connect directly to the premises NTE and connect without the BT Openreach fibre router.

How long does it take to install a FTTP Connection
The current lead time for an FTTC connection is 14 working days. According to the latest updates from BT Openreach.
What else do I need
End users should be aware that the installation of FTTP can be subject to survey by BT Openreach engineers and that in certain cases excess installation charges may apply. Installation will require an engineer visit from BT Openreach to put your connection in place. This will require you to be onsite at your business premises to allow access to the engineer. Once this is completed JMV will visit to install your broadband services, routers and any other hardware ordered at the time.
Leased Line
A leased line is a high-speed private internet connection that offers uncontested data exchange services on a 1:1 contention ratio via a dedicated fiber optic cable. This means that, in exchange for fixed subscription fee, service users do not share circuit capacity with any other users, resulting in faster upload/download speeds.
What speeds does a Leased Line offer.
These speeds are the speeds that you will receive. This is a guaranteed service.

How long does it take to install a Leased Line Connection
The current lead time for a LEased Line connection is 3-12 months working days. This will depend on many factors. OpenReach / Virgin will have to physically install a dedicated Fibre cable into your property. This can involve lots of civil works, road closures etc.. and therefore lead times can be very long.

What’s the difference between analogue and VoIP?
Analogue telephones communicate over copper wires whilst VoIP phones use your broadband connection to send voice streams over the internet.
What is hosted VoIP or hosted telephony?
Hosted VoIP or hosted telephony (they mean the same thing) is a telephony solution which does not involve any onsite PBX equipment.
